Boat trips Nightlife Tenerife Bus Services Los Gigantes Tourist Information
Los Gigantes has a small marina and is one of the main harbours for boat trips. The marina is lined with cafes and restaurants an ideal spot to watch the boats and yachts. There is a wider range of bars and restaurants than nearby Puerto de Santiago. Los Gigantes is well known for it's spectacular imposing cliffs. Beyond the cliffs are the equally amazing Teno mountains. The town has a small pedestrian square in it's centre with shops surrounding it. From the small usually un crowded black sand beach, that is next to the marina, view the bay as it sweeps round to the north and the spectacular cliffs of the Acantilados de la Gigantes which tower up from the sea. It is the beauty of these lava formed cliffs that attract tourists to this area. As can be expected there are hills and steps so not recommended for anybody who has difficulty with mobility. The terrain prevents expansion of Los Gigantes and there is little chance of finding a parking space. The clear blue sea is ideal for snorkeling Los Gigantes LidoThe Los Gigantes Lido is open tp the public for a small charge. besides the large freeform sea water swimming pool surounded by large sun terraces, there is a small natural pool in the sea available down a few steps which lead to a rocky gully. This gully is ideal for snorkelling. Sunbeds and parasols are available as is a cafe and bar. Location of The Los Gigantes LidoThe Los Gigantes Lido is located to the left of the road that runs down to the Marina opposite the Poblado Marinero Apartments. The entrance, see photo below is only a few metrew before reaching the Marina. Photographs of the Los Gigantes LidoClick to Enlarge Los Gigantes Marina and harbourLos Gigantes Marina and harbour is at the bottom of the hill in Los Gigantes. The harbour is protected by a high sea wall. To the left of the harbour, facing the sea, is the Lido and to the right is the small Los Gigantes beach. Please note that you can't get to the beach directly from the harbour, you have to use the lane that runs to the rear of the Poblado Marinero Apartments which overlook the marina.
Boat trips from Los Gigantes harbourBoat trips from the Marina, will take you to see the cliffs, dolphins that can be found between Tenerife and the island of La Gomera, and a pick up service operates to Marsca beach people who have hiked down the beautifull ravine from the village of Marsca 3 miles inland high in the Tenco mountains. There is usually an opportunity to have a swim in the clear blue water on these boat trips. Or go on a longer trip to the island of La Gomera Los Gigantes, Puerto de Santiago and Playa de la Arena NightlifeThe 3 areas of Los Gigantes, Puerto de Santiago an old fishing village and Playa de la Arena a rapidly growing resort, almost merge into each other. These resorts are more suitable for holiday makers looking for a quieter holiday. They do not have the vibrant nightlife associated to Playa de las Americas 30 km to the south east although you will find bars with music in the 3 resorts.

Los Gigantes BeachGenerally referred to as Los Gigantes Beach, the actual name is is to thr right of the Marina while facing the sea, but access to the beach is gained via a narrow lane set back 60 metres from the Marina. This lane is behind the Poblado Marinero Apartments and the lane is full, on one side, of souvenier shops, cafes and restaurants. On the other side is a shear cliff or supporting wall. The beach is fairly small and made up of the famous Tenerife fine Black sand that a slightly gritty texture. Being dark in colour, it's not actually black, it absorbs the suns rays and can become very hot. There is a bar restaurant at the start of the beach, the Marinero Jesse Beach Restaurant, and a few metres past the restaurant further onto the beach are public toilets. Sun loungers and parosols are available to hire on this rather dramatic beach which is backed by the Giants, the shear, high and extremly impresive Los Gigantes cliffs.
